Sprucing Up the Master Bedroom

This past September, Rob and I decided to bite the bullet and replace our original carpets with hardwood. The results are amazing. It makes our upstairs look not only larger, but newer and fresh.  As I have discussed in previous posts, it definitely causes the “decorating-domino” effect. It is definitely exhausting to the home owners physically, but financially.

Our own master bedroom when emptied for the new flooring to be laid, was obviously in need of fresh paint and some re-thinking on our furniture.  A fresh coat of paint in a softer green/blue than was previously on the walls and we were ready to move on to the furniture.   Our flat screen TV, one year old was still sitting in our outdated and very wide armoire. We purchased a wonderful wood, low slung,  TV stand, from Urban Barn in Burlington and positioned it under our bedroom window.  We realized by replacing our armoire, I now needed more storage. Keeping the ever expanding budget in mind…..I thought of Paint It Like New!

We even impressed our daughter Lauren….we did steal her old dresser!! I picked our PILN favourite espresso colour, called  Nightshade (customized darker).  We then sprayed the dresser, our kingsize headboard and a new small dresser to be used as my night stand.( see the nighstand in photo abov)  Some new hardware to co-ordinate with our new TV stand and we were all suitably impressed.

I decided to finally purchase new bedside lamps for Rob and I, instead of taking the cast offs from other rooms in the house! I chose a sparkly silver round base with crisp lampshades, a  new round mirror hung over our daughter’s “old dresser,” and the “new” look was complete.
